Stage Set For Republican Resurgence?

A column written just before Tuesday’s election by commentator and political veteran Bruce Bartlett appears to have been prescient. Bartlett, who held senior policy positions under both Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, suggested that mainstream Republicans – specifically wealthy conservative elites and the business community – may have had enough, not only of the tea party but of rising inequality and “the right-wing war on the poor.” There are signs, he writes, that the pendulum has begun to swing back toward the middle.
