Smile: Apple Patents Facial Recognition Technology

Apple was granted a patent that may make it possible to unlock or control features on the iPhone by way of facial recognition.. Apple says the patent, for “personal computing device control using face detection and recognition,” would let their devices recognize if the users standing in front of them is authorized to open or use the gadget, and if they are not certain information like incoming calls or texts may not be displayed. The patent technology would be an upgrade from the fingerprint recognition being used to open devices in the newest version of the iPhone.
