Shareholder Suit Against Wal-Mart Gets The Go-Ahead In Arkansas

A federal judge in Arkansas refused to dismiss a shareholder lawsuit alleging the company failed to adequately investigate corruption in its Mexican operations and failed to disclose what it knew about corruption in a 2011 SEC disclosure. Wal-Mart’s on-going payment of bribes to help facilitate establishment of stores in various locations in Mexico became widely known as the result of New York Times articles in 2012. The plaintiff in the case is a pension fund in Pontiac, Michigan.
