Securities Class Actions Tepid, But Hot In CA

The pace of securities class actions was down in the first half of 2015, according to a report from Cornerstone Research and the Stanford Law School Securities Class Action Clearinghouse. The number of new filings, at 85, was a decrease from the last half of 2014 and also significantly lower than the semiannual average (94 filings) observed between 1997 and 2014. However, the first-half 2015 filings included an increase in the number of filings targeting firms headquartered outside the United States, and a surge in filings targeting technology and industrial companies in the Ninth Circuit.
