Secret Service Head Julia Pierson Resigns

Following a stunning White House security breach that allowed a knife-wielding man to access the East Room, and the revelation that an armed man with a felony record was allowed to ride in an elevator with President Barack Obama, Secret Service Director Julia Pierson has tendered her resignation. Joseph Clancy, formerly Special Agent in charge of the Presidential Protective Division of the Secret Service, has left his job in the private sector to take up the mantle of interim director, the Department of Homeland Security announced in a statement today.
