Sea World Sues Over State Breeding Ban

San Diego’s SeaWorld has sued a California commission that seeks to put a ban on breeding captive killer whales at the park. SeaWorld asserts that its activities with whales are subject to federal law, not a state commission. The commission approved the proposed expansion of SeaWorld’s “Blue World” orca tank, but included a ban on breeding and prohibitions on the sale, trade, or transfer of the whales.
