SCOTUS’ Busiest Month Ever?

The Affordable Care Act, same-sex marriage, and to what degree “disparate impact” will be a viable argument in civil rights cases are all issues that will be addressed by Supreme Court decisions this month. Add these to a couple major decisions already rendered, regarding free speech online and hiring discrimination for a woman wearing hijab, and it may make this June the busiest month the Court has ever seen, Jay Michaelson says in The Daily Beast. The fact that so many major decisions are expected at the same time is partly coincidence, Michaelson says, but is also a function of “the nature of this court: divided, increasingly engaged in lecturing, and concerned both about its own legacy and the way American society and government appear to be headed.”
