SCOTUS 2015 Docket Likely To Impact Presidential Race

Some of the most significant legal battles of the coming year will center around the Obama administration’s use of executive. In an opinion piece in The Hill, Jonathan Keim, counsel to the right-leaning Judicial Crisis Network, takes a look at some of these cases: The effort to rewrite portions of the Affordable Care Act, the Administration’s assertion that it may refuse to enforce existing legislation, and Congressional laws that apply disproportionately punishments doled out for minor offenses are likely to see attention from the nation’s top court. Keim writes that “the debates about executive power are especially timely,” with the 2016 presidential election looming. The next president may be in position to select as many as three new Justices.
