Samsung’s Infringement Spawns A Class Action

Mayer Brown attorneys Archis A. Parasharami, Carmine Zarlenga and Catherine Bernard are skeptical about the prospects of a new class action gamut in Dang v. Samsung Electronics Co. The plaintiffs allege they suffered damages based on loss of resale value, among other things, as the result of buying Samsung products that were judged to have infringed Apple patents. The authors explain why it’s no coincidence that this lawsuit was filed in California’s Northern District, in what some now refer to as “the Food Court.”
