Russian Hackers Targeting Windows Users

Microsoft says a group linked to Russian state-sponsored hacking has been targeting Windows users in a series of new cyberattacks. The hacking attacks focused on vulnerabilities in Windows and Adobe’s Flash, and appear to come from the same group that targeted the Democratic National Committee earlier this year. Google informed Microsoft of the weakness last week, and this week made the information public. “We believe responsible technology industry participation puts the customer first, and requires coordinated vulnerability disclosure,” Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Executive Vice President Terry Myerson said. “Google’s decision to disclose these vulnerabilities before patches are broadly available and tested is disappointing and puts customers at increased risk.”
