Roberts, Kennedy Join Liberals In Upholding Obamacare

The Supreme Court’s ruling, in which Chief Justice John Roberts saved the Affordable Care Act from a potentially devastating blow for the second time, cements the broad expansion of health care as a part of President Obama’s legacy. The Court voted 6-3 to uphold the law. Roberts and Justice Anthony Kennedy both joined their liberal fellows in voting to support the law, with Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito dissenting. “I’m going to interpret the votes in this case as further support for my argument that the Republican appointees are fragmenting,” University of Chicago law professor Eric Posner wrote on his blog.
