Restructuring Legal Departments To Adapt To A Changing Landscape

Corporate legal departments face increasing shareholder activism and a changing landscape of regulations as the Dodd-Frank act continues to roll out, and restructuring may be necessary to stay efficient and compliant, according to Lucy Fato, vice president, deputy general counsel and corporate secretary for Marsh & McLennan Companies. Among other moves, Fato says hiring attorneys who can balance multiple positions and provide responsiveness to the board, is key.
