When social media comment turns negative and begins to harm a business, is there anything the organization can do about? Attorney Michael M. Those options are circumscribed by law, including, in California, a new “Yelp Bill” that prevents a business from including a non-disparagement clause in terms-of-service or other consumer contracts, and in other states by various media shield and anti-Slapp laws. Still, legal avenues may still exist, but there is a non-legal strategy that often has a better outcome.
