Renewed Push For Cameras In Courtrooms

Two terrorism trials underway on the east coast are being heavily covered by the press, some of whom are calling for the courts to reconsider bans on cameras and video devices inside the courtroom. A pilot program begun in 2011 in which videos of some civil cases are posted online will conclude in July, with recommendations expected next year. Those who favor banning cameras say that images from inside courtrooms would violate witnesses privacy and could turn trials into public spectacles.
