Really Want Trump To Pick A New Supreme Court Justice?

President Obama this week said that Donald Trump’s position as the presumptive nominee for president from the GOP serves as a compelling reason to hold a vote on Supreme Court hopeful Merrick Garland. “Republicans are looking at a Republican nominee many of whom say isn’t qualified to be president much less appoint somebody, and it seems to me they’d be better off giving a hearing and a vote to somebody that they themselves in the past have said is well-qualified, is fair, and to treat the Supreme Court with the seriousness and the sense that it’s beyond politics that it deserves,” Obama said in an interview with Buzzfeed News. After the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February, many GOP leaders swore they would not allow Obama’s nominee to even sit for Senate hearings, and they’ve true to their word so far.
