Reality TV Polygamists Ask For Supreme Court Review

Kody Brown, the man at the center of reality TV show, “Sister Wives,” will ask the Supreme Court to hear an appeal of his lawsuit challenging the state of Utah’s laws against polygamy. In 2012, Brown and his four wives sued Utah over its ban on polygamy, claiming the law infringed on their right to privacy and religious freedom. In 2014, a U.S. District Court Judge struck down a portion of Utah’s ban, making it no longer a crime to cohabitate with multiple people and claim to be married. But the state appealed, and the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the ruling earlier this year. Brown has until Sept. 10 to file with the nation’s highest court.
