Prince Drops Lawsuit Against Bootlegging Fans

No fan of the internet, or the copyright infringement it has allowed, musician Prince set out to sue 22 alleged bootleggers of his material. He’s had a change of heart, though, and asked a federal court in California to drop the lawsuit, which sought $1 million from each alleged infringer who posted footage of his concerts online. Prince decided to drop the suit – which targeted many fan websites dedicated to the artist and his music, angering some loyal followers – just as he debuts a new song and readies a London tour.
