Paying Practice Group Leaders To Manage Pays Off

Requiring practice group leaders to devote half their time to managing the group, and compensating them primarily based on performance of the group, can result in improvements to the group’s financial performance that more than offset the leaders’ lost billings, according to a blog posted by Jack Bostelman on the KMJD Consulting site. The blog reports on numbers run by practice group leaders who participated in a recent managing partners’ roundtable. Among the findings, only modest improvements are required to offset the billable hours shifted to practice leadership work.
