POTUS Comment Raises Question Of SCOTUS Retirement

A comment from President Obama this week suggested he’s thinking seriously about having the opportunity to make a Supreme Court appointment and raised questions about whether he may be figuring on a pending resignation from the Supreme Court. In a fundraiser speech in Martha’s Vineyard, Obama said he needs a Democratic Senate because “we’re going to have Supreme Court appointments,” among other reasons. However, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who at 81 is the oldest current member of the Court, said recently she is “likely to remain for a while.”
