POTUS Asks SCOTUS To Save Immigration Plan

The Obama administration will ask the Supreme Court to uphold the president’s plan to shield up to 5 million immigrants living in the country from deportation, after a federal appeals court in New Orleans upheld a lower court ruling striking it down. Obama issued executive orders to protect parents whose children are citizens or legal permanent residents, and immigrants who came to the country as children. A Texas-based federal judge filed an injunction against the plan, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals voted 2-to-1 to uphold the injunction. Republicans have said Obama’s plan represents executive overreach, and 26 states challenged the plan.
