‘Porngate’ Justice Suspended

Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice J. Michael Eakin will be suspended without pay over allegations he exchanged sexually explicit emails with a friend at the Attorney General’s office. Eakin testified this week before the Court of Judicial Discipline. “Even though these emails were not intended to be published to the general public, they have by now become infamous and the subject of numerous newspaper articles,” the court’s suspension order reads. Most concerning, the court said, were a series of emails in which Eakin and a prosecutor at the AG’s office made lewd references to two of the justice’s female staffers. “Clearly these emails, which address judicial employees, are extremely inappropriate and offensive,” the court wrote.
