A Nashville TV station reports that Tennessee Republicans have a secret plan, led by Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey’s office, to unseat three members of the state’s Supreme Court. The plan involves raising millions from business sources ahead of an August vote that will determine whether three Democratic judicial appointees should be retained. The PR campaign would portray the judges as as soft on crime and anti-business. A prominent local Republican, who is an attorney and former appeals court judge, was critical of plan, calling it “an unwarranted, unjustified attack on the independence of the judiciary.”
