Plot Thickens For Crime Writer Litigant

The $51 million verdict she won over her erstwhile financial adviser was vacated by a district court judge, but The US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit ruled in crime writer Patricia Cornwell’s favor on appeal, and granted a new trial. The district court judge had ruled that he’d given the jury wrong instructions regarding which complaints they could hear. “These reinstated issues were the very heart of our case, and we could not be more pleased,” said Cornwell, of the Appeals Court’s ruling.
