Plaintiff With Supreme Court Case Has Vanished

A man whose lawsuit was set to be taken up by the U.S. Supreme Court, though no lawyer is representing him, has disappeared. The woman who owns the property believed to be Bobby Chen’s most recent place of residence, when asked if she knew of Chen’s whereabouts by The Wall Street Journal, said “Subpoena me and I provide,” before hanging up. The Court took up Chen’s case, a suit with the city of Baltimore over a torn-down row house, last month, despite the fact that Chen had no representation, parts of his petition were hand-written and his grammar was often incorrect, and he was unable to pay the $300 filing fee. His brief is due December 22, but now Chen is nowhere to be found.
