Peloton Under Scrutiny By the DOJ

Exercise equipment company Peloton will be required to submit information to the DOJ and the Dept. Of Homeland Security pertaining to injuries users suffered on the company’s treadmills. The SEC is also investigating. Treadmills called Tread and Tread+ were recalled last May after a child was killed in an accident involving the equipment. Many other users reported injuries. At least one pet has been sucked under the machine, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has published an “urgent warning” that the products posed serious risks to both children and small pets. Peloton initially criticized the CPSP’s request for information, but eventually recalled 125,000 machines. It has acknowledged the SEC’s request for information.
