OSHA: Thirteen Cell Tower Deaths in 2013

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration has raised the alarm about a recent spate of deaths and injuries in cell phone tower construction. In 2013, there were thirteen fatalities, more than in the previous two years combined. Late last year, OSHA sent a memo to compliance officers and regional administrators, calling for more attention to the issue. The agency has also set up an informational web page for the industry and is collaborating with industry groups to inform employers about safe procedures.
