Obama Looks To Toughen Cyber Crime

Cyber crimes would be subject to new enforcement tools, and carry tougher penalties, under a proposal the Obama Administration introduced this week. The proposal would also establish “targeted liability protection” for the companies that agree to share cyber threat information—such as IP addresses, date and time stamps, and routing information—with Homeland Security. Obama this week also called for legislation to force companies to be more transparent about when they come under attack from online threats, and when customer information is put at risk.
