Obama Administration Relaxing Export Controls

Congressional approval is needed for some but not all the changes, and some legislators remain concerned that exports with potential military use will slip through the process. Business generally favors the relaxed rules — except for some that are concerned about technology and jobs being shipped off along with the goods. The administration is pushing ahead, maintaining that the system can be fine-tuned.
