NY Seeks To Close Unpaid Intern Harassment Loophole

The rights of unpaid interns may be expanded in New York, as lawmakers there react to a judge’s recent decision to throw out a sexual harassment case because the unpaid intern defendant was not an actual employee. The state’s human rights laws do not currently extend to unpaid workers, but New York seeks to join Oregon and Washington D.C. in closing that harassment loophole.
