No Headway on Do-Not-Track Talks

Advertisers want to track, and privacy advocates balk. The “Tracking Protection Working Group”of a standards-setting body, the World Wide Web Consortium, or W3C, has been trying without success to hammer out a consensus. One sticking point is whether “do-not-track” should be a default or a choice that a computer-user would need to affirmatively select.
