New Trial For Podcast Subject

A Circuit Judge in Baltimore has vacated the murder conviction of Adnan Syed, whose trial was the subject of the popular podcast, “Serial.” Syed has served 17 years of a life sentence for murdering his girlfriend. The judge ruled that his former attorney rendered “ineffective assistance,” because she didn’t cross-examine a prosecution expert about the reliability of cell tower location evidence. The state is expected to appeal.
