A New Crowdsourcing Tool Targets Patent Trolls

A new online crowdsourcing tool, Trolling Effects, was launched this summer to help identify patent trolls. A coalition of organizations and law schools, led by the Electronic Frontier Foundation, established the online site in July in response to the surge in patent trolls anonymously demanding licensing fees, making it difficult and time-consuming for companies to determine whether a threat is viable. Through the site, companies can identify whether others have received similar letters regarding the same patent.
