Most Active Patent Prosecution Attorneys

The USPTO issued more than 350,000 utility patents in 2020. IP Watchdog has ranked the 10 most active patent attorneys based on the number of patents obtained for clients, with a caveat. Considering the number of patents identified for each individual, an average of more than two per day, they believe that for the majority of the applications, the top 10 attorneys or agents only reviewed and signed applications prepared by their staff. Six out of 10 work for small IP boutiques. Two are with Oliff, a firm with patent business almost exclusively from foreign clients including Toyota and Epson. The most active attorney, Belinda Lee, is with JC IP Group based in Taiwan. The firm’s top two clients are TSMC and ITRI.
