Mississippi Tops List Of Most Corrupt States

A new study has identified the most corrupt states in the U.S., with Mississippi ranking number one, followed by Louisiana, Tennessee and Illinois. Government corruption costs U.S. taxpayers tens of billions each year, an Indiana University and City University of Hong Kong study found, and leads to lower-quality work, reduced economic productivity and increased inequality and poverty. The study found that simply reducing corruption to an average level would lower annual state spending by more than five percent.
