#MeToo Attorney Represents Subject of Kavanaugh Letter

September 17, 2018

A letter purportedly describing an incident in which Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh committed some sort of sexual transgression in high school is in possession of the Senate Judiciary Panel’s top Democrat, Diane Feinstein. The other Democrats on the committee have asked to see it, but so far have been rebuffed. It came to Feinstein via the office of California state Rep. Anna Eshoo, a Democrat who represents the Standford University area. The woman who is the subject of the letter, but apparently not its author, is now represented by Debra Katz, an attorney who works with #MeToo survivors. A spokesperson for Eshoo, declined to comment on the letter sent to Feinstein, saying that the office has a confidentiality policy when it comes to constituent casework. According to The Intercept, sources provide different accounts of the contents of the letter, but consistently say that it describes an incident involving Kavanaugh and a woman while they were in high school.
