Litigator Marc Kasowitz, founder of Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman, has always been a guy you go to when you have complex, intricate legal problems,” Trump Organization general counsel Alan Garten told the Wall Street Journal. Kasowitz, who routinely charges $1,500 an hour, has worked on Donald Trump’s behalf to keep divorce records sealed, did some work on the fraud case concerning Trump University and sued Trump’s Hong Kong business partners over a Manhattan property. Kasowitz attended Cornell Law School and founded his firm in 1993. It has grown into a 270-lawyer operation that both sues and defends large companies. According to the Journal, Kasowitz rules the firm like a “benevolent dictator” who rewards those he respects, “and has little patience for those he doesn’t.”
