Litigation Pandemic May Be Next For Italy

Victims’ families are coalescing on Facebook and weighing their options. Prosecutors in some nursing home cases are considering manslaughter charges, while conservative authorities, in the area of Lombardy where the coronavirus outbreak first appeared, are being cited for alleged failures. So too are some health care workers. Meanwhile, plaintiff lawyers have started to advertise their services to victims’ families, a move that was denounced by the head of Italy’s main doctor association. One Italian journalist predicts the pandemic is going to turn into “a big collective trial.”
