Legal Analytics For Strategy And Case Management

Legal analytics is the process of mining data for patterns that can be used in both litigation strategy and business/management decisions. In litigation it can shed light on such questions as how prospective opponents are likely to react to a claim, whom to select for outside counsel, and which are the most favorable venues and judges for a particular case. The legal analytics process takes advantage of the fact that huge troves of data are available from such sources as the PACER system for the federal courts, the International Trade Commission’s EDIS platform and the U.S. Patent and Trademark office website, and methods now exist to analyze and use this data.
