Lawyers Set DUI Trap for Opposing Counsel

Three Florida lawyers involved in a high-profile defamation trial conspired to set up opposing counsel for a DUI arrest. A judge, acting as ethics referee, found that their plot violates attorney ethics rules. A hearing will be held in August to determine a penalty for the lawyers, of the Adams & Diaco firm. A paralegal for Adams & Diaco spotted the opposing lawyer at a Tampa steakhouse, had drinks with him, and asked him to drive her vehicle. All the while she was communicating with the three lawyers, who called in a favor to a Tampa police sergeant. The sergeant arrested Campbell for driving under the influence. The DUI case was dropped, and a federal civil rights investigation launched in addition to the legal ethics case.
