Lawyer Forges Judge’s Signature, Misspells It

A Pennsylvania lawyer agreed to be disbarred by consent after admitting to forging a judge’s signature. When a former client of Stephen Ellwood sought another lawyer’s help in collecting the $250,000 judgment he thought he had obtained, the new lawyer noticed discrepancies in the judge’s signature – the name was misspelled. Ellwood admitted to forging the signature, and agreed to two years of probation with 75 hours of community service.
