Lawyer For Trump Whistleblowers Repped RNC In Hillary Email Case

Washington lawyer Mark Zaid has been taking some heat from Trump supporters on account of his representation of the whistleblowers in the Ukraine phone call matter. But he takes it in stride. Republicans liked him well enough, he says, when he was representing clients in the Benghazi congressional investigation. His firm also represented the Republican National Committee in a case related to Hillary Clinton’s emails. However, he also has given money to Democrats, specifically to the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee, over a period of years. Those donations, he tells The Hill, were the result of successful bids at silent auctions when he was a guest at the committee’s spring ball. “I have no idea if he’s a Democrat or a Republican,” says a former CIA deputy general counsel and friend of his. Zaid, it’s noted, has also sued the CIA.
