Lawyer Fired For Twitter AG Criticism Gets Slap On Wrist

A lawyer who tweeted criticism about former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline received the lightest possible punishment from a Supreme Court of Kansas three-judge hearing panel. Sarah Peterson Herr, research attorney for the Kansas Court of Appeals, was fired from her job after tweeting that Kline was a “naughty boy,” and predicting that he would be disbarred. In a statement, Herr said she “didn’t stop to think that in addition to communicating with a few of my friends on Twitter I was also communicating with the public at large. The disciplinary panel cited Herr’s self-reporting and apology in choosing the most lenient sanction possible in her case.
