Lawyer Claims Her Blog Posts Are Copyrighted, Can’t Be Used Against Her

A lawyer who was cited with a disciplinary complaint for r statements she made on her blog attempted—unsuccessfully—to mount a copyright case against using the text as evidence. The lawyer, Joanne Denison, argued that the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission infringed her copyrights by using quotes from her blog posts against her, but the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois soundly rejected the argument in a fair use analysis.
