Lawyer In $1 Billion Insurance Scam Sentenced To 10 Years

A south Florida lawyer who acted as trustee for a viatical insurance fund that defrauded investors to the tune of $1 billion was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He was the only defendant to go to trial, while a dozen defendants took pleas. The judge could have given him 80 years, but said he took into account Anthony Livotti’s pro bono record, and the fact that he was not the mastermind of the scheme, when determining the sentence.
