Law Student Shot Dead By Police Was Unarmed

A Case Western Reserve law student was shot dead in Ohio by a police officer, and a criminal investigation has revealed the student was unarmed. Saif Nasser Mubarak Alameri had been living in Cleveland. On Dec. 4, he was shot in an encounter with Hudson, Ohio police officer Ryan Doran. Six shots were fired during the encounter, and Alameri was killed by a gunshot to the head. The medical examiner’s office has ruled his death a homicide. Investigators will present the evidence to a grand jury. The United Arab Emirates, where Alameri was born, has been in touch with Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Ohio Department of Public Safety Director John Born in regards to the shooting. Officials from the Abu Dhabi Police Department and an embassy consular team representing Alameri’s family also met with BCI investigators, medical examiners, and police.
