Law School Applications Tick Up

As of Dec. 18, about 18,000 people have applied to a law school, up 2.9 percent from the same time a year ago, according to LSAC. There was also a 7 percent increase in the number of people who sat for the law school entrance exam in June and this fall, one of the biggest one-year gains for those testing periods since 2009. In the last five years, enrollment at U.S. law schools has fallen by more than 20 percent to a decades-long low. Some are more concerned with applicant quality than quantity, but the numbers are promising for law schools that have been struggling to attract students and make ends meet.
