Law Prof’s Murder Has “All The Makings Of A Crime Novel”

As details emerge in the shooting death of Florida State University law professor Dan Markel in 2014, they paint a more and more dramatic case of divorce, a bitter custody battle, and a murder for hire. Initially, police suspected Markel had taken his own life. Now, two years later, detectives announced two lead suspects in the case, both convicted felons. They indicated that the family of Markel’s ex-wife Wendi Adelson, a lawyer who also taught at Florida State, may have hired the two men out of “desperate desire … to relocate Wendi and the children to South Florida.” Markel was a prominent Florida State criminal law professor, with degrees from Harvard and Cambridge.
