Law Firms Sue Donald Sterling Over Clippers Battle

Two law firms claims that Donald Sterling, former owner of the Los Angeles Clippers, owes them more than $271,000 related to the 2014 legal battle over the team. “Plaintiffs attempted to resolve this fee dispute with defendant outside of the courtroom by direct negotiation,” the complaint said. “All of those efforts have proven unsuccessful and plaintiffs’ patience and attempts at resolution have been disregarded or exploited by defendant.” Sterling hired Bloom & Ruttenberg as well as Ginzburg & Bronshteyn to represent him in a case in which a tiff with his former wife, Shelly Sterling eventuated in the sale of the Clippers for $2 billion. The law firms claim that “no legitimate reason” has been provided for the “failure to pay.”
