Law Firms Slow To Address Cybersecurity

Forty percent of law firms would place cybersecurity as one of their top five risks, but more than half either have not “taken steps” to insure that risk or don’t know if they have, according to a recently published survey from Marsh, the insurance broker/risk management company. The survey also found that 62 percent of respondents had not calculated expected lost revenue or extra expenses following a cyber-attack. Still, an overwhelming majority – 98 percent – did say they had in place secure redundant data storage systems, such as offsite data vaults and servers, and nearly 75 percent said they had internal controls to detect non-compliance with privacy policies.
