Law Firms Offer To Perform Same-Sex Weddings

With Florida’s stay on same-sex marriages set to expire, some clerks have threatened to suspend wedding services altogether to avoid granting gay unions. At least two law firms have offered to step in and fill the gap. Fleet and Smith told the Daily News that at least a dozen of its lawyers are qualified to officiate services, and they offered to perform the service for free to any same-sex couples turned away by clerks. Eric Block, a trial lawyer in Tallahassee, made a similar offer to perform same-sex services gratis.
